I love building trade partnerships. Last October I was very fortunate to meet Geraldine Carter, owner of Tres Jolie, while I was working back stage at FashioNXT. Geraldine’s company is the official US distributor of Balmain hair extensions and products. If you are not familiar with Balmain hair, you’ve probably seen it a million times and didn’t even know it. It is a VERY natural looking product worn by celebrities, including Rihanna.

Shortly after FashioNXT, Geraldine, her husband Tom and I sat down to figure out how we could build a long term relationship. I liked the direction the Carter’s were taking their company and I think their product is one of the best on the market. One of the partnership ideas we came up with was a product photography shoot featuring real clients at real salons after an application of Balmain hair.

Our first official product shoot was for The National Beauty–an ultra hip salon in Downtown Portland. Co-owner Heidi Cuthbert did the styling and her team did the make-up. Our model was gorgeous, but the real star here is the Balmain hair. Wow! Here are some of the great images from that shoot.

This quarter I was given the opportunity to do another Portland product photography shoot with Ohana Depot. If you are not familiar with Ohana Depot, they offer high-end, amazing quality outdoor furniture. Their products are absolutely stunning, so I am excited each time they call me back for a photo shoot! Their team members are some of the nicest, most professional I’ve worked with. Not to mention, they are also incredibly accommodating–when I show up, I take over the warehouse!

My project this quarter was to create a comprehensive library of photos featuring their outdoor wicker collection. The client asked for a collection of images that gave their marketing team maximum flexibility. They wanted the ability to use isolated product photos for their online catalog. The photos also had to be relevant enough to merge them into lifestyle images for marketing materials.

Here is a small sampling of the images I delivered to Ohana Depot after this shoot. There were over 100 images that focused on different products, color variations, styles, perspectives and more. I’m even including one of my images in action! The client was able to take my product shot and incorporate it into an inspirational outdoor scene.

I look forward to working with this amazing company again. And I am really hoping this is the year I can get their products for my patio!
